Valve Body Repair Singapore

Gear changes turned jerky, delayed or slamming in? Fine when cold, rougher once it warms up? That is often the valve body, the part that controls the gearbox's oil pressure, not the whole gearbox. We diagnose it properly, then repair or replace it.

Honest valve body repair in Singapore

0% Risk0% Guessing0% Headache

Jerky, delayed or slamming shifts usually point to the valve body, the part that controls the gearbox's oil pressure, not the whole gearbox. We check the fault codes, the way it shifts and the oil condition together, so we know what is wrong before anything comes apart. No guessing.

Then we put it right. Some valve bodies we clean and repair. Some are too far gone and need replacing. We confirm which, fit quality parts, and never sell you a part you did not need. If the fault sits past the valve body, we tell you that too.

Brought my Honda Civic here after the gearbox started slipping badly during acceleration. They did a complete overhaul and replaced the faulty valve body. The car now shifts perfectly with no hesitation at all. Fast turnaround, friendly staff, and the price was fair for the quality of work. Will definitely return if needed.

What a refief. My Hyundai Tucson was stuck in limp mode with erratic shifting for weeks. These folk diagnosed the mechatronic fault on the spot and replaced it along with a deep clean of the valve body. The SUV now responds instantly and drives like it just left the showroom.

My dad was driving my car and complained to me there was slight jerking when changing gears on PIE. I decided to bring it in for checking. These guys are pretty pro. From explaining the process, the cost and transparent all the way. They managed to get my repair done quickly even tho they were quite busy.

Shifts gone jerky or delayed?

Tell us how the car changes gear and when it's worst. We'll tell you whether it points to the valve body, and what it takes to put right.

What a valve body actually does

The valve body is the control centre for the gearbox's oil pressure. It is a maze of channels, valves and solenoids inside the box.

Its job is to send oil to the right clutch at the right moment, and to decide how smooth or how firm each shift feels. When it is working, you never think about it.

When the small valves and solenoids inside it wear or stick, the timing goes off. Shifts turn jerky, slow or harsh, even though the gearbox itself can still be mechanically sound. The control just isn't clean any more.

What a valve body fault feels like

Valve body trouble has a particular feel to it, and it usually creeps in rather than failing all at once.

The common signs are jerky changes at low speed, a hesitation before the car pulls away, and a thump as it drops into gear. Downshifts can feel rough as you slow down. It is often worse in stop-start traffic, and worse once the gearbox has warmed up.

This tends to show up on higher-mileage cars, somewhere past 80,000km, as the valves and solenoids wear. Caught early, it is usually a smaller job than letting it grind on.

How we put a valve body right

There is a right order to this job, and we follow it every time.

  1. Diagnose. We read the fault codes, drive the car for the symptoms, and check the oil condition together.
  2. Inspect the valve body. It comes out and is checked for wear, sticking valves and faulty solenoids.
  3. Repair or replace. We clean and repair the valve body where that will hold, or replace it with a quality part where it won't.
  4. Test. The gearbox is run and road-tested to confirm the shifts are clean before the keys come back.

Repair or replace? We tell you straight

Not every valve body needs replacing. Often a thorough clean and a repair sorts a sticking valve or a tired solenoid, and that saves you money.

Sometimes the wear is too far gone and a replacement is the honest call. We confirm which before we quote, so you are not paying for a new part you did not need, nor nursing a repair that was never going to last.

And if the diagnosis points past the valve body, to a worn gearbox, we will say so. That is a different job. Read about a gearbox overhaul.

Automatic or dual-clutch, every box is different

Different gearboxes run different valve bodies, and each one wears in its own way.

Automatic (AT). Heat and old fluid wear the valves and solenoids the valve body relies on, and the shifts go off.

Dual-clutch (DCT/DSG). The valve body works alongside the mechatronic unit. Erratic or harsh shifts can come from either, which is exactly why diagnosis matters first.

Whatever you drive, continental or Japanese and Korean, we know how its valve body behaves and how to put it right. If the fault turns out to sit in the brain rather than the hydraulics, read about mechatronics repair.

Valve body repair FAQ

What is a valve body?

It is the control centre for the gearbox's oil pressure: a network of channels, valves and solenoids that send oil to the right clutch at the right time and set how each shift feels.

What are the signs of a failing valve body?

Jerky changes at low speed, a hesitation before the car pulls away, a thump into gear, or rough downshifts. It is often worse in traffic and worse once the gearbox is warm.

Can a valve body be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Often it can be cleaned and repaired, when the fault is a sticking valve or a tired solenoid. Sometimes the wear is too far gone and it needs replacing. We confirm which before we quote.

How much does valve body repair cost?

It depends on the make, the gearbox and whether it needs a repair or a replacement. We diagnose first and give you a firm quote before any work starts.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Instalment plans are available via Atome, Grab Paylater and Shopee Paylater. Let us know when you come in and we'll sort it out.

How long does it take?

It depends on the make and whether we are repairing or replacing the valve body, and on parts. We confirm a timeline once we have diagnosed your car.

Is it the valve body or the mechatronics unit?

They can feel similar, and on a dual-clutch box they work together. That is why we diagnose first: we read the codes and the live data to confirm whether the fault is in the valve body or the mechatronics unit before we quote.

Which cars do you handle?

Continental makes such as Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, BMW and Mercedes, alongside Japanese and Korean cars.

My car shifts so badly I'd rather not drive it. Can you collect it?

Yes. We offer free towing for gearbox repairs anywhere in Singapore. Send us your location on WhatsApp.
