Honest gearbox repair in Singapore

0% Risk0% Guessing0% Headache

When your gearbox plays up, the worry is the unknown. You do not know what is wrong, or whether you are about to pay for a whole new box you may not need. We take that worry away. We confirm the exact fault with dealer-level tools before any spanner comes out, then quote. No guesswork. No replacing parts that were never the cause.

Then we fix only what's broken. A worn clutch pack, a leaking seal, a sticking valve body, a tired bearing. The parts that are still good stay in the car. When the wear has gone too far for a targeted repair, we say so honestly, rather than reaching for a whole new box.

Took my BMW 3 Series for a gearbox repair after it started making grinding noises on downshifts. The workshop handled the full rebuild professionally and even flushed the system properly. Now it changes gears silently and feels much stronger. Fair cost, no nonsense approach, and the car drives like new. Happy with the outcome.

My Mazda 3 gearbox had been slipping for weeks and it was honestly stressing me out every time I drove to work or ran errands. Dropped it off and the team was so sweet, walked me through everything gently, no info overload. They put in solid parts and now it shifts beautifully, like when I first bought it. Took a few extra days but they provided timely updates

Had a really smooth experience with Gearbox King. My car had gearbox issues and their team handled the gearbox repair quickly. Staff were friendly and explained everything clearly, which I appreciated since I'm not very familiar with car repairs. The price was reasonable and the whole process was hassle-free. Would definitely recommend Gearbox King if you need reliable gearbox service.

Gearbox Overhaul and Servicing for Every Make

We only do gearboxes

A gearbox is not the place for guesswork. One wrong call and a small repair becomes a full rebuild.

So we keep it simple. We only do gearboxes. Repair, overhaul, servicing, mechatronics, torque converters and valve bodies, across continental and Japanese or Korean makes. It is the one job we do all day, every day.

Drive down to Sin Ming AutoCity and we'll take a look. No hard sell.

We find the fault, then quote

Limp mode and a warning light could be a worn clutch pack. It could also be a sensor or a solenoid that costs a fraction to put right. The two are worlds apart on the bill.

That is why we diagnose before we quote. We confirm the exact fault with dealer-level tools, explain it in plain English, and give you a price before any spanner comes out. You decide with the full picture in front of you.

We repair, we don't just replace

When a gearbox plays up, the quick answer most shops give is a replacement. Out with yours, in with a used box from a scrapyard with unknown history and a short warranty.

We go the other way. We find the fault and fix only what's broken: a worn clutch pack, a leaking seal, a sticking valve body, a tired bearing. The parts that are still good stay in the car.

That is usually cheaper, and you keep your own gearbox rather than gambling on someone else's. When the wear has gone too far for a targeted repair, we say so honestly, and that is when an overhaul makes sense.

When a repair becomes an overhaul

Some gearboxes are too far gone for a single repair. The wear is spread through the box, and patching one part just moves the problem along.

That is when an overhaul is the honest call: a full strip, inspection and rebuild, with worn components replaced to spec. It costs more than a targeted repair, but it is a rebuild of your own gearbox, not a gamble on a used one.

Every overhaul carries a 2-year, 40,000km warranty, whichever comes first. In writing, not in passing. Read about a gearbox overhaul.

Automatic transmission clutch packs, gears and valve body stripped on the bench during a gearbox overhaul

From PDK to CVT, we know the box

Singapore's stop-start traffic and heat are hard on a transmission. Each type fails in its own way.

Automatic (AT). Fluid breaks down in the heat, clutches and solenoids wear, and shifts turn rough.

CVT. Belts and pulleys slip under load. Fluid condition matters more than most owners think.

Dual-clutch (DCT/DSG). The clutch packs, the valve body and the mechatronic unit are the usual suspects, often with erratic shifts and dash errors.

Porsche PDK. A sophisticated box that takes hard, high-speed shifting to heart. We treat it accordingly.

Whatever you drive, we know how the box behaves and how to put it right.

Why leaving it costs more

Most gearbox faults do not fail all at once. They worsen slowly, then go all together.

A slipping clutch pack sheds metal into the fluid. That debris travels through the box and chokes the valve body and the other parts the fluid touches. A small fault that was a cheap fix becomes a big one.

So the early jerk, the slight slip, the warning light that comes and goes, those are the cheap moments to act. Catch it early and the repair is smaller. Leave it, and the options shrink while the bill grows.

Can't drive it in? We'll fetch it

A gearbox that has given up does not care where you are. Stuck on the expressway or sat in the carpark, the car is going nowhere.

Gearbox repair FAQ

What is the difference between a gearbox repair and an overhaul?

A repair fixes a specific fault and leaves the good parts alone. An overhaul strips the whole gearbox, inspects every part, and replaces what is worn. We recommend the smaller job whenever it will hold.

Do you give a warranty on a gearbox repair?

A full gearbox overhaul is covered for 2 years or 40,000km, whichever comes first. For a targeted repair, the cover depends on the work and the parts, and we confirm it with you when we quote.

How much does a gearbox repair cost?

It depends on the make, the gearbox type and what's actually at fault. We diagnose first and give you a firm quote before any work starts. For typical price bands by make, see our gearbox repair cost guide.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Instalment plans are available via Atome, Grab Paylater and Shopee Paylater. Let us know when you come in and we'll sort it out.

How long does a gearbox repair take?

It depends on the fault and the parts involved. A targeted repair can be quick; a full overhaul takes longer. We confirm a timeline once we have diagnosed your gearbox.

What if it turns out it's not the gearbox?

Then you will know exactly what it is before you spend anything. We confirm the fault before we quote.

Is a repair better than replacing the gearbox with a used one?

Usually. A used unit from a scrapyard comes with unknown history and a short warranty. We repair your own gearbox with quality parts, or rebuild it with a 2-year / 40,000km warranty if it needs a full overhaul.

Which cars do you handle?

Continental makes such as Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, BMW and Mercedes, alongside Japanese and Korean cars.

What gearbox types do you repair?

Automatic (AT), CVT, dual-clutch (DCT) and Porsche PDK, for both continental and Japanese or Korean cars.

My car can't move. Can you collect it?

Yes. We offer free towing for gearbox repairs anywhere in Singapore. Send us your location on WhatsApp.
